Massage Therapy

What is Massage Therapy?

Our bodies are constantly trying to communicate with us.  When those aches and pains go unaddressed our health and well-being suffer.  When we take time to stop and listen all aspects of ourselves begin to heal –mind, body, and spirit.  Massage therapy is one of the ways we can set things on the right path to health and wellness.  During a massage therapy session, the therapist manually manipulates the soft tissue of the body to facilitate healing.  There are many ways that a therapist will administer the therapy either by light touch or deep tissue pressure.

Not only am I a massage therapist but also someone who uses this therapy to stay healthy.  Through massage therapy, I’ve been able to connect deeply with my body, mind and spirit.  It is a beautiful and eye-opening experience.

I love being able to incorporate my training and professional experience with my own personal experience with massage therapy to help others connect on a deeper level with their bodies and gain understanding of how to optimize their health and well-being.  This is one of the things I truly enjoy about massage therapy.

Our bodies are so complex, yet simple at same time.  Finding wellness and harmony for our minds, bodies, and spirits can be much like solving a puzzle.  However, with my help and your input, together we can determine a beneficial, healthful plan to optimize your health, so you can live your best life just as you were designed to live.

Massage Therapy

The hustles of our daily lives, constant stresses, work troubles, and sitting at a desk through most parts of the day can get the best of us and cause various types of pain. These pains and aches often go unaddressed, and eventually, our health suffers. If you are stressed, you might believe that there is nothing you can do about it and that it will go on its own.

Contrary to popular belief, you can free yourself from these excruciating pains, and that too, without any painkillers. Massage therapy is the best way to set things on the right path for your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Massage is an exemplary tool to relax your body, ease muscle tension, and offer countless other benefits. A massage therapist manually stimulates all the right pressure points and soft tissues to facilitate healing.

Like massage therapy, Reiki is another technique to help people overcome their aches and heal their minds, bodies, and spirit. These techniques can help you connect deeply with your true self and live through an eye-opening experience. It enables you to communicate with your body on a deeper level and understand different ways to optimize your health and wellbeing.

How Can Massage Therapy Help You?

The benefits that come with massage therapy are infinite. Not only does it relieve your body of all the pains and stresses, but also offers long-term solutions to spiritually heal you. Let’s discuss some of the most commonly observed outcomes of massage therapy.

Relieve Stress

You are likely to be a victim of postural stresses if you have a sedentary job. These stresses can manifest in your neck and shoulders and cause immense pains and weakness in the lower back. Luckily, massage therapy can counteract the imbalance and help relieve all these stresses.

Reduce Anxiety & Depression

The human touch with consent can be incredibly therapeutic and relaxing. Everyone craves the human touch, and close contact with another human being can alleviate anxiety and depression. According to research, women who got constant massage therapy during their cancer battle were much less anxious and depressed than those who didn’t get massages. Massage therapy can reduce levels of anxiety and depression, helping you live a fulfilled life.

Helps Fibromyalgia Pain

Since fibromyalgia has no direct cure, massage therapy plays a vital role in easing the pain. It offers relief from calf pain, decreases stress hormones, and increases serotonin levels. It helps the body relax, thereby getting quality sleep and repairing itself through the night.

Reduce Muscle Tension

Massage therapy increases the temperature of soft tissues, thereby reducing pains and increasing psychological relaxation and tissue elasticity. The massage therapist applies friction on the skin, which increases the temperature and reduces muscle tension by increasing the temperature.

Enhances Exercise Performance

Massage helps to stretch the muscles fibers and enhances flexibility. When flexibility increases, you can exercise better and make the most of your workouts. With frequent massage therapy sessions, muscle flexibility and range of motion improve, and you can run and exercise more efficiently.

Relieves Tension Headaches

Massage therapy can stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which counters the body’s response to stress. As a result, heart rate is reduced, and feel-good hormones are released. Serotonin, in particular, helps soothe tension headaches. Ultimately, cortisol, a headache triggering hormone, is reduced, and the body relaxes.

Helps Chronic Pain

A massage encourages relaxation and the range of movement, thereby decreasing tension and reducing chronic pain. The blood flow increases during a massage, allowing the muscles to loosen and stretch. This stretching causes the body to relax and relieves chronic pain.

Promotes Better Sleep

Massage alleviates the build-up of stresses, which promotes better sleep. Massage also reduces stress and increases serotonin and dopamine, stabilizing the mood. As the mood gets better and pressures are relieved, you relax and ultimately sleep better.

Improves Cardiovascular Health

Massage improves blood circulation by cleansing congested areas and making it easier for the heart to get a proper blood supply. It also aids in lowering blood pressure. As the blood circulation enhances, the heart rate slows down. After a massage therapy session, the heart has much less pressure to circulate blood through the body, performing more efficiently.

Relieves Postoperative Pains

The body undergoes trauma and significant pains after surgery. Massage helps ease these pains by promoting the healing process and improving the degree of postoperative fibrosis. The sheer force and pressure of massage help build tissues, and you can heal from surgery at a faster rate.
